10 DIMENSIONS & TERMS
DIMENSIONAL TRAVELS
Before anything can truly begin in terms of explanation, it’s important that some concepts are laid out. Knowing these should hopefully assist a stranger to this world come to terms with it.
Most, if not all, of this concept is inspired Quantum Theory. This is an imaginary science, so to speak, that can be used to help explain the idea of Multiple Universes and an overarching Omniverse. It’s not a required watch, but that video is what started us off.
The lore of this Magician concept is quite extensive. I apologize. It has been broken down into a series of additional pages to ease the reading burden somewhat.
MAGICIANS
“ Magician ” is a simplified term that most users of this art take on for themselves. Other terms do exist and will be explored. To begin, it’s important to understand some key Magician facts:
Magicians are not human, but once were human. They have broken the laws that bound them to the 4 dimensions of humanity and the rules that kept their human selves powerless.
Some Magicians perform Omniverse Travel, but this is not true for all of them. The ability to travel the Omniverse is fairly uncommon due to the level of understanding it requires.
Understanding is key for Magicians. In order to change something, they must first understand it. This requires a lot of bookwork and other tedious forms of research. Some level of intelligence is necessary to become a Magician.
On that note, Magicians are sometimes called “Quantum Magicians” if they are using a lot of Quantum Theory. Other common terms including “Scientific Magician” (often for those who cannot travel the omniverse) and “Hacking Magician” (referring to how they understand & rewrite the ‘codes’ of humanity.)
Magicians don’t need a physical form to use magic. All they need is to be able to think. They do not need to move their hands or perform any special dance routine to cast a spell; they just think it and it’s done. The greatest threat to a Magician’s spell casting ability is being unable to think straight or clearly. For example, some Magicians cannot safely get drunk, some are immobilized by pain or infatuation, some are simply distract-able and need to meditate.
QUANTUM / SCIENCE / HACKING MAGIC
As it has been previously suggested, Quantum "Magic" is really just a matter of understanding reality and then bending it. However, a Magician with knowledge alone is not able to create magic. They must also have ample imagination. It could be said that through knowledge the Magician breaks apart the laws, but it is through their imagination that they reorganize and manipulate them.
Magicians need no physical body to cast their magic. They do, however, need to be able to think clearly. If their thoughts stray in the middle of a 'spell' then the spell may not finish, or will abruptly cast with disasterous consequence.
This form of magic is dangerous if done wrong. Imagine it as playing around in the html or ccs of a webpage blindly. If you do not insert or modify the code correctly, the whole web page falls apart. Similarly, a poorly written or “wrong” spell can break reality. This can creative a paradox, which may be dangerous enough to end a world.
10 DIMENSIONS & TERMS
This examines the concept of the 10 dimensional planes are proposed by Quantum Theory. Before continuing, it will be noted that while Magicians of this OC’s “brand" can travel the omniverse, not all of them do. Therefore, it isn’t a requirement to read this page if you’re wanting to make a “Quantum Magician.”
{ ◊ } Quantum Terms, as used in this Lore:
- Universe: One singular expansion of space. This includes the planets and stars; anything you can reach feasibly while still being a Human. In terms of the 10 dimensions, this is the 4th dimension.
- Alternate Universe: An space that branches off from another universe’s timeline. They are constantly being created. For example, there is an alternate universe where you did not read this article. The laws, concept, and flow of this world is the same as the one is diverges from. In terms of the 10 dimensions, this is the 5th and 6th dimension.
- Parallal Universe: This is a space that does not interact with your universe. It has a completely different “start.” For example, the magical girl world of Madoka versus the magical girl world of Pretty Cure. The very concept of a magical girl is completely different. Parallal universes do not spring off from one another. They are the 7th and 8th dimensions of reality.
- Multiverse: For the sake of this explanation, multiverse is the term used for a collection of universes with fundamentally different laws of physics and being. It more than just yes magic versus no magic. It’s gravity being X versus gravity being Y, or the concept of gravity not existing. This is the 9th dimension.
- Omniverse: Finally, at the 10th dimension, you have the omniverse. Here, you can see all possibilities at once. It is like climbing to the top of a tower and being able to see everything below you. You can see everything, so terms like “past” and “future” are meaningless because they are all your “present.” Time is an illusion here. Because you cannot go any higher, the 10th dimension is also a rather lonely place. You cannot interact with other beings, because that would require an 11th dimension where someone could look down on your interactions. The 10th is the end. It is lonely, but not lonely, omnipotence. With everything and nothing, all at once.
- Zeroth Dimension: This is almost the opposite of the Omniverse. The Zeroth Dimension is nothing. If you can get there, you will experience nothingness. Not a sound, like a sight, not a smell, not a feeling… But it is not “empty.” It is everything in the omniverse; its existence and also its absence. It is -1 and +1. It is 0. When there is a paradox, its energy goes here. Because energy never disappears: it just goes into the Zeroth Dimension. Traveling here is especially dangerous, since it is very hard to think your way out of nothing.
DIMENSIONAL TRAVELS
As these terms suggest, Magicians in this Lore travel between dimensions. There are 10 dimensions, and every Magician has unique limits that relate to their understanding. Understandingis a very important factor of magic here. If you cannot understand a dimensional plane then you can’t get above it. For example, the character Shugo can go all the way to the 10th dimension, while Mikale can only reach the 8th. This doesn’t mean Mikale is stupid, but that his human mind just cannot visualize and overcome the idea of a 9th dimension.METHODS OF TRAVEL
Dimensions are like a grid of points. As you get higher up, the grid gets more complicated. But in order to interact with a world, you must be on the 4th dimensional plane of that world. You can’t talk to someone from the top of a ladder: You have to come down to their level. True, you can watch them and maybe hear them, but you will need to come down in order to interaction properly.
This is part of why the 10th dimension is so lonely. It is the absolute top. You cannot interact with anything, but only observe it. The higher a Magician goes, the more they have to rely on just themselves for comfort. So while some people may be able to imagine all 10 dimensions, they may not be able to tolerate the climb. This, too, is fine.
Because at their core, all Magicians were once human. They were once bound by the laws of their 4 dimensional existence. When a human becomes a Magician, their body does not magically change. It’s their mind that changes.
It is through the use of their mind, not their body, that a Magician casts spells and travels. When a Magician travels, they often leave their body behind. Flesh and blood doesn’t travel well. When landing in a new Universe, they are often taking over an existing body or creating something from scratch. Because of their mind travel, Magicians do not need to be physically fit, they do not need limbs, they do not need to even be awake or alive, honestly.
As long as the thought exists and pushes the boundaries, the Magician will travel.
On that note, not all Magicians can travel. Oops. Some just can’t imagine the 10 dimensional planes, which is fine. They can still perform magic without traveling.
All Magicians are free to travel in their own specific way in according to how they imagine the concept. For example, Yumeno Shugo is able to visualize the movement of his physical body and take it into other worlds. Mikale Reed cannot, so only moves his consciousness.
How a Magician moves says a lot about how they view themselves and the world, so should be closely considered.
